Vadakara boasts of being the birthplace of Thacholi Othenan, a legendary warrior immortalised by the Vadakkanpattu (ballads of North Malabar). It was renowned as a commercial hub, with a love and tradition for martial arts that won it glory across the world. Thacholi Manikkoth is where the great fighter practiced, a beautiful Kalari which people still visit in large numbers to this very day.
